Trading in Dollars vs. Shares on Sporttrade
Sporttrade allows you to place trades using either dollars or shares, giving you flexibility in how you manage your positions. This article explains the difference between the two and how to switch between them when placing a trade.
Trading in Dollars
When trading in dollars, you choose how much money you want to trade. Sporttrade automatically determines the number of shares based on the best available market price.
This option is helpful if you prefer to:
• Control your total spend
• Trade a specific dollar amount
• Let the system calculate the share quantity for you
Trading in Shares
When trading in shares, you choose the exact number of shares (whole or fractional) you want to buy or sell. Your order is then filled based on the best available market price.
This option is helpful if you prefer to:
• Control the exact size of your position
• Buy or sell a specific number of shares
• Manage exposure more precisely
Switching Between Dollars and Shares
When placing a trade, you can switch between trading in dollars or shares directly within the order window before submitting your order. This allows you to choose the method that best fits your trading strategy for each trade.
