In Sporttrade, there are currently three types of outcomes you can trade on.
- Winner
- Points spread
- Total points
Winner
Trading on a Winner outcome (also known as the "moneyline") is a bet on the outright winner of a contest.
- Example: you buy the Maple Leafs to win against the Red Wings.
- For your share to settle at $100: the Maple Leafs must win the game.
- For your share to settle at $0: the Maple Leafs must lose the game.
Total Points
Trading on a Total Points outcome (also known as "over/under") is a bet on whether the total number of points scored between two teams in a head-to-head contest will be over or under a specific number.
- Example: you buy Over 52.5 in the Chiefs/Packers game.
- For your share to settle at $100: the Chiefs and Packers must combine for more than 52.5 total points.
- For your share to settle at $0: the Chiefs and Packers must combine for less than 52.5 total points.
Point Spread
The Point Spread is a line used when one team is favored over another. Minus odds (-) represent the favorite, and plus odds (+) represent the underdog.
Trading on a point-spread outcome is a bet based on the margin of victory. Buying the favorite (-) means that the team needs to win by the specified margin, or more. Buying the underdog (+) means that the team needs to lose by less than the specified margin, or win the game outright.
- Example: you buy the Eagles +7.5 vs. the Cowboys.
- For your share to settle at $100: the Eagles must lose by less than 7.5 points, or win the game.
- For your share to settle at $0: the Eagles must lose by more than 7.5 points.
